Don't Knock the Block: A Burlesque Hall of Fame Legends Fundraiser
Presented by Bawdy Shop Burlesque
YOU DID IT, BALTIMORE!
You helped us raise $5,000 for the Burlesque Hall of Fame Legends Challenge! That's the most raised at a single event by any troupe this year! And although we hope someone beats us since it all goes to the Legends, we're savoring this moment of WOW!
When we started this troupe last year, Bawdy Shop Burlesque committed ourselves to actively building awareness of and expanding audiences for burlesque and live arts, and this event is a shining example of this key tenet of our mission!
We'd like to thank
-
Our local sponsors for helping us drive $1,200 in raffle ticket sales;
-
The Baltimore City Paper and the Baltimore Sun for their promotion and coverage;
-
Legends Margo Christie and Gabriella Maze for their love and support;
-
BurlyQNell for the outstanding exhibit of regional burlesque history;
-
Sean Scheidt for photographing the event and for contributing his own Burlesque Transformation images to the raffle;
-
Studio Holliday for their contribution;
-
The management and staff of The Ottobar;
-
The performers who brought great acts to the stage and,

Charm City's vibrant burlesque scene of today owes much to the (in)famous Block of yesterday, which gave rise to Blaze Starr, inspired HL Mencken to coin the term "ecdysiast" and where venues like the Two O'Clock Club got their sassy start.
Why "Don't Knock the Block"?
